Availability and Event Management
Availability and Event Management are the processes of collecting, recording, and responding to events about Configuration Items (CIs) and then managing the availability of those CIs from the data collected, in order to ensure that the level of service availability delivered in all services is matched to, or exceeds, the current and future agreed needs of the business, in a cost effective manner.
- Understand the Availability requirements of the business and to plan, measure, monitor and look to continuously optimize and proactively improve the Availability of the IT Infrastructure, the services and the supporting organization.
- Develop and manage IT Services with an Availability Plan, reflecting the current and future needs of the business, and ensuring that Service Availability achievements meet or exceed all of their agreed targets.
- Ensure that proactive measures to improve the Availability of services are implemented wherever it is cost justifiable to do so.
